Corin Zaragoza Estrera

Board of Directors

Corin Zaragoza Estrera believes that teaching is an act of social justice. Her first teaching experience was as an English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor to Central American day laborers while an undergraduate at Loyola University New Orleans. She loved the experience and decided to turn it into a career. Corin earned a Master’s degree in Education from Virginia Tech in 2011. Afterward, she moved to Chicago, where she taught ESL in Chicago Public Schools and for the nonprofit Chinese Mutual Aid Association. She is currently the ESL Teacher/ESL Contact at Wakefield High School in Raleigh. Growing up biracial, Corin loved to read the types of story read during Social Justice Storytime, and she joined the SJS Board to bring those stories to future generations. In her spare time, Corin is an avid reader, amateur chef, and active follower of celebrity gossip. She lives with her husband, daughter, and Scottish terriers in Chapel Hill.
